These 1/8th scale replicas of the big boats hit speeds in excess of 60mph when racing. What these boats lack in size, they make up for in intense racing action. Their race course is located at the Family Fishing Pond in Columbia Park and they run Friday and Saturday of race weekend. If you have never seen them before, you owe it to yourself to take a look.
The Kennewick Kid’s Zone is located just north of the Playground of Dreams. The zone will be open Saturday and Sunday during boat races. There is no charge for the “Kids Zone”.
Inflatable bounce houses will be donated by Bouncing Around.
The Kennewick Kids Zone will feature Big Top the Clown and Walter Chimal from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.on Saturday and Sunday, with a meet and greet from 10 to 11 a.m. Spiderman will appear on Saturday only, from 1 to 3 p.m. Both Kids Zones will also have face painting and arts & crafts.
Hydroplane driverswill be available at the autograph session. Souvenir merchandise will be available to purchase, which will benefit the Driver’s fund to aid the families of injured drivers. The autograph session will be held at the Centennial Stage behind the Lampson Pits as 12:00pm, Saturday.
Meet the pilots from the 2014 air show. This event will be held at 2:30PM Saturday near the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial.
Oberto Pit Tours
See the boats up close and learn more about them. Pit tours are available to all people wearing a booster button. The buttons may be purchased in the park and from supporting businesses in the Tri-Cities for $5. Tours are available Friday and Saturday.
